Archaeology School Day! April 26th, 2024 9:00am - 2:00pm
Join us for the Archaeology School Day! The Fort Laurens Museum will be holding Archeological School Day on Friday April 26th, 2023, from 9am to 2pm. The event is open to public and private schools and homeschoolers of all ages. Activities will target Ohio Educational standards for grades 4th through 8th. Station based activities will teach children the importance of archaeology, how it is conducted, and how it effects other fields of study. Hope to see you there!

Opening Day May 4, 2024
Come out and join Fort Laurens for a weekend of fun. Fort Laurens will be hosting Dr. Tom O’ Grady to speak on Not Since Tecumseh: Darkness at Midday over the Ohio Country; Total Eclipse of the Sun. The speaker will begin at 11am. There will be living historians onsite from the 13th Virginia to interact with the public. The 13th Virginia will be hosting 18th century programs and activities throughout the weekend. The cost of this weekend is free but donations are encouraged.

Revolution on The Tuscarawas July 13 & 14, 2024
Fort Laurens is once again holding our annual Revolutionary War Reenactment with the Brigade of the American Revolution! Fort Laurens will have a variety of different 18th century demonstrations like: Music, Artillery, Cooking, Medicine, British and American soldiers, and so much more! Admission for this event is $10 for adults and free for children 12 & under. All proceeds go toward the preservation and educational efforts of Fort Laurens. Hours for the event are Saturday 10am-5 pm, and Sunday 10am–4 pm.

Featured Workshop: Candle Dipping Class

$20 dollars per person and must be 16 years or older.

Learn the time-honored technique of candle dipping, cherished by pioneers and artisans alike, as you delve into the fascinating world of beeswax craftsmanship.
Throughout the class, you'll have the opportunity to unleash your creativity and craft your own unique candles. Experiment with different dipping methods, colors, and textures to create bespoke candles that reflect your personal style and flair. Whether you're a seasoned candle maker or a complete beginner, this class is tailored to inspire and ignite your passion for the craft. Walk away with a set of beautifully handcrafted candles and the knowledge to continue your journey as a beeswax candle artisan. As an added bonus we will be discussing other types of candle making methods such as metal and silicon molded candles as well as selection correct wick diameters, calculating "sent loads" for candle wax and wax additives that can give your candles unique textures and designs.
